I remember seeing a documentary on TV about a rescue effort for greyhounds that used to race.  Part of the documentary was showing clips of these dogs chasing a fake rabbit around a track at full speed. Without getting into the politics of racing, that image of chasing something reminds me of what Jesus was talking about in Matthew 6.

Essentially he said there are two type of people in this world. The chasers and the seekers. The chasers persue the things of this world, and worry about catching up to something they will never fully reach. One of the Rockefellers was once famously quoted when asked ….."when would he have enough?", his response was, "for most people it's not a matter of enough but rather can I just have a little more". In other words for chasers it is never enough!

This Sunday we will look at Matthew 6 and examine the difference between being a chaser or a seeker. We are called to a radical opportunity to seek first the kingdom of God and not to worry about things like what we will eat or drink because when we seek Jesus and his kingdom first then everything else will fall into place.

Thanks
Jonathan
