One of my favorite memories as a child and my dad was that on and off he would take us kids trout fishing. We would often go out to a place called Roxberry Falls and we would try our hand at putting on the worms and catching fish. It is still a special memory I hold dear. Actually the truth is that I caught my 1st fish without a worm. I was young and my parents had a house next to a brook. As a young boy I went out with a simple fishing pole, a fishing line and a hook. My parents smiled as they thought what can you catch with no bait and what are the chances of catching anything. To their utter amazement, I came back a little while latter fish in hand. I had caught a brook trout with no bait and just a hook. True story. But this story is a reminder of what Jesus challenged his disciples with. He said you are fishing now for fish COME FOLLOW ME and I will make you FISHERS OF MEN This Sunday we will look at Matthew 4:19 and examine the call to go fishing with Jesus....... |
