Most everyone loves a great meal. Especially in the west many of us love on special occasions to go out with our families to eat and to fellowship. Two summers ago while we were in Germany staying at the Hotel, we went down to what they called breakfast which was more like the Swedish idea of a smorgasbord.

Everything you could possibly imagine was there to eat. Fish, meat, eggs, toast, yogurt, miles of bread, well you get the picture.

We all love a good feed and Jesus uses this illustration in Luke 14:1-22. Jesus uses the imagery in this parable to make his listeners think about all the excuses why they can't come to the banquet table. Sometimes the same excuses we use for why we can't do things for God.

This sunday we will learn lessons from the banquet table and see how Jesus used this parable to challenge both the people he was speaking to and us . He challenged his listeners in some very direct and sometimes blunt ways....and the challenge for us will be great as well.

I urge you to read Luke 14:1-22 this week as we will learn lessons from banquet table
